Critique for Independent

Critique for independent project semester 1

The Circle of Life

The concept for my proposal projects represent the actual facts of the circle of life , one illustration illustrates a deer cut in portions to emphasizing the idea of PORTIONS , and the other illustrates an egg that is supposed to represent the never ending cycle of LIFE itself .

I chose to create my works in Adobe Photoshop because , I sought to create an image that resembled the styles commonly used in info-graphics. I love drawing , and have never gotten the chance to put my talent to the test, digitally. I've always been excited to work digitally .

Working with my visual identity logos prepared me for the process of creating my visual identity project . I did have some issues along the way , but persevering and using my resources or alternate routes did aid me ultimately.

I mostly used the basic tools available to me such as : Paint brush, line tool, transforming and line textures. The style that I most commonly saw during the information graphic unit of the tech course inspired my proposal works, in terms of their simplistic essence. I was quite satisfied with the end results of my proposal works , I wasn't sure if I would be able to  achieve the style I was aiming to execute, but I did, and I'm proud of that.

Artist Introduction Letter

My name is Jamari Nwagwu  my art interests are quite broad, the type of art that I’ll appreciate the most usually depends on my mood. As an artist I find it necessary to be intimate with my works and art itself as a form of expression. When it comes to interests that I can pursue, I think I may find myself most happy working with film: (directing, watching, shooting, imagining) and crafts: (collages, collaborative projects, installations).

The most enjoyable unit I experienced in the Visual Arts department of CyberArts would be the gesture-drawing unit. I started off with drawings that I hated, and ended the unit with drawings that I actually put up on my wall at home, because I was so proud of my progress.  As for Tech, the most interesting unit was creating visual identities. It was something I’ve always wanted to do, but never took too seriously. My “San Art” logo feels so right, I probably won’t use it in the future, but I may actually consider it!

I came into CyberArts full of curiosity, and still maintain that curiosity each and every day I’m here. I’ve learned many new techniques in Visual Arts, but the degree at which I learned the most new skills is most prevalent in Tech (Specifically Adobe Illustrator). Whenever a problem arose, I would enable a curious mind to find solutions to those obstacles. In most cases, I would discover new as well as simpler ways of getting things done in Adobe Illustrator. Without the help of my fellow students and teachers, I’m certain I’d still be struggling with many things.

The skills I long to improve as an artist in general are vast, but as a Cyber Arts student, I would like to learn how to better polish my works so that they actually feel and look like finished works.

I have hopes of having an upper hand with my knowledge in Adobe Illustrator when the time comes for me to apply to my animation course at Sheridan College.
Not to have all the “know-how” to myself, but to have the skills and experience with the program, so that I may help other students just as I was helped here in Cyber Arts.

This portfolio is a collection of my dearest pieces of art. They vary in amounts of effort invested in each piece. I’ve had many happy accidents, and have also taken many days out of my boring schedule to nurture some of the works presented. This collection is incomplete, however. I tend to give my best works away to my loved ones as gifts.

Tips and Tricks

I was just poking around the interwebs because I was wondering if there was a way to make any video game 3D , even if the feature hadn't been initially available for the console or video game.

I still haven't found the answer I was looking for , but I stumbled upon this and thought it was pretty sweet!

Personal Inspiration

Andrew Bird is a violinist, as well as an awesome whistler  I'm not sure if his last name truly is Bird, but that explains the whistling in his musical pieces.

His music always calms me down , gets me stoked, or inspires me to do something artistic, creative or adventurous.

I loved his sounds the very first time I heard them, It was a song called Anonanimal which a friend of mine played a few summers back.

His songs tug my heart chords and make me feel ethereal, ironically insignificantly important. He showed me my souls reflection through his music.

To be completely honest , I didn't think thoroughly about deciding to get the cloud above tattooed on my forearm one day; but I'm certain I will get it done someday, but not entirely as a tribute.

INDEPENDENT PROJECT PROPOSAL PHASE 2

Independent Project Proposal – Phase 2                               JAMARI NWAGWU

State your medium

My works will be created in Adobe Illustrator and will be available to the rest of the world via digital images. I know very little about using Adobe Illustrator, but through trial and error, I have been able to achieve specific tasks I set for myself.
I still need to learn how to fill quarantined areas of canvas with a solid colour.
This medium is suited for my topic, because I feel it would be much easier to keep things simple with the amount of tools and resources that are available to me in Adobe Illustrator. ********SIZE STILL NEEDS TO BE STATED *******

Indicate the concept of the proposed work

The subject matter is based on Life and Death; I will be sharing my personal views on Life and Death with my works. One piece will be showing the nature of Death, and the other will show Life carrying on beyond the establishment of death. I will be using technology to create vector based images that express my and display my views on Life being infinite, even after death, as well as the concept that death is an essential part of infinite life.

Anticipated Problems

Some artistic problems that I may encounter in the process of creating these pieces are keeping the images simple (Not clustered/ crowded), and delivering the message I want the audience to understand simultaneously. I will be facing many technical problems, but I have educated and experienced classmates, a wonderful teacher, and tons of problem solving skills; I’m confident that most of my problems won’t ever be too major.

Describe how will you use a unique composition and combination of media for your artwork.

Some discernible elements that will make my works dynamic are the way the snow and the leaves seem to be moving. My artistic approach for this project is inspired the information graphics that we previously worked on. The compositional choices I’ve decided to make reflect how simply I view the concept of life and death. I may add a circular shaped backdrop for one piece and use a square backdrop for the other just to clarify that they are connected.

Influences

Some similarities in choice of artistic style that my pieces share with Kate Bush’s “Suspended in Gaffa” are the simple shapes, and composition. The art style that I have chosen to execute can be categorized as Digital Art. To be more specific with my sense of direction, I will be using information graphics as visual references to influence my work.

This tutorial helped me so much, I was so lost without Megaupload . It wasn't until I literally couldn't find download links for any of the files I ever wanted or needed. Finding files is much easier with the help of bit.torrent , as well as faster.

Child Of Light Developer Walkthrough

The art style and overall concept of this game intrigues me to an overwhelming extent, it makes me sad that it hasn't been released yet; I'm already dying to play it. I also noticed that Ubisoft has taken a step outside of their signature obstacle course style of gameplay, which is definitely a positive sign. Ubisoft stepping outside of their traditional style truly sets the bar for other Video Game developers out there, it also broadens the entire spectrum of gaming types . Meaning, that some gaming genres may meld to thus creating entirely new genres and play styles.

Artistic Inspiration

Hayao Miyazaki and his works inspire me thoroughly, he's the reason why I convinced myself to become an animator . His signature style and odd tales and stories both make me feel so complete.
I believe that it is his fantasy style in film making, animation and concepts that make his works so popular. I still have yet to see the rest of his films .
